Our client provides housing for retiring Methodist presbyters and deacons, widowed partners and ministers retiring on health grounds. They have a nationwide portfolio of 900+ residential properties, around 700 of which are occupied by retired Methodist ministers and their dependents. The remaining properties are market rented.
This is a hands-on and strategic role with a niche charity that requires an enthusiastic, empathetic and organised property officer. You will be based in the Commercial team which deals with sales, purchases, the market rented portfolio and ministerial equity in our client’s properties.
Responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the disposal of the properties in the market rented portfolio in accordance with the company’s strategic and budgetary plans
- Assisting with the purchase of properties on behalf of ministerial residents
- Acting as an internal managing agent for properties that are placed on the market with estate agents for lettings or sales
- Instructing the company’s professional survey instructions for sales, purchases and the fixing and releasing of equity interests, and refurbishments
- Providing the Commercial Department with administrative support as needed.
Personal specification:
- Educated to ‘A’ level or equivalent
- RICS or equivalent would be desirable
- Demonstrable experience of administration
- Experience of voids and lettings
- Understanding of property maintenance
- Understanding of conveyancing and lettings processes
- Understanding of legal terminology and regulations
- Developed interpersonal skills
- Highly developed negotiation skills
- First-class customer service skills
- Problem solving skills
- Strong IT skills
- Able to work alone or as part of a team
- Empathetic
- Efficient.
It is important to note that this is a 6 month contract.
The basic salary on offer will be in the region of £34,000 to £42,000 dependent on previous experience, qualifications and ability.
You may work 1 day per week from home if you wish.
