A JOBSEEKER’S NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house,
Not a creature was working, not even the mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes they wouldn’t show the wear and the tear.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of fidget spinners danced in their heads.
With some bills still unpaid and the mortgage still due,
I found it hard to relax and renew.
When out of nowhere, my chest started to ache,
And just like that I rose and was awake.
I jumped out of bed in a bit of a scurry,
To my laptop I went in a bit of a hurry.
The laptop shone bright in the corner of the room,
I typed into google why am I so full of gloom.
I scrolled through the web pages, what should I do,
There must be a reason why I’m feeling so blue.
With the symptoms spelled out right in front of me there,
That I was stressed with no doubt, surprised I hadn’t lost hair.
Not having a job was praying heavy on my mind,
I need a new job, of the property kind.
I started to Google property jobs in the UK,
Who knew there were so many, it made my day.
Property Personnel was standing out quite clear,
As the property recruitment specialist of the year!
I scrolled their pages, the blogs and the team,
That’s when I noticed my smile start to beam.
This was the company I knew who would get me the job,
They sounded spot on, my heart started to throb.
I opened Word up, to write out my CV,
By this time, I realised it was quarter past three.
I worked through my history, my past few roles,
Making sure I left no gaps and no holes.
I re-read it through nearly a hundred times,
Making sure it was right and I’d committed no crimes.
And then all of a sudden, I felt it complete,
I got to the point I needed to eat.
A late night snack of a mince pie,
I felt such a relief, I started to cry.
I knew that this was it, this would be my year,
Of supporting my family and being debt clear.
I finally pressed send on my application,
Waiting for it to leave with apprehension.
Property Personnel will get me a job I know,
With their raving reviews they have to show.
They seem friendly and lovely and honest too,
They all seem to know just what to do.
They’ll get me a job in the new year I know,
I’ll go on to be successful, to run the show.
I’ll get through Christmas excited to hear.
So for now Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
