Struggling to find staff? Well, if it makes you feel any better, you’re not alone. However, the latest official data on UK job vacancy figures released by the Office for National Statistics won’t make encouraging reading.

Vacancies increased from 1,238,000 in Q4 2021 to 1,288,000 in Q1 2022. This was more than double the number of vacancies over the same period in 2021 (+105.8%), and +56.5% higher than the volume of vacancies seen just prior to the outbreak of the pandemic in Q1 2020. In fact, this is the highest rise since the ONS started collecting this data in 2001.

As a consequence, if you are looking to hire it is now more important than ever that you make sure your company’s proposition is competitive enough to not only attract, but also retain the best talent available.
