Charlotte O’Hanlon

Senior Recruitment Consultant

What do you do?
I am a Senior Recruitment Consultant at Property Personnel. I joined the team in 2018 and specialise in residential sales, lettings, property management, and helping trainees get started in the industry. I love helping people find their perfect job and building strong, long term relationships with both clients and candidates.

About

In December 2015 Charlotte left her job in the airline industry to travel and experience working abroad. Having spent 4 months travelling around South East Asia, Charlotte flew to Australia where she based herself for the following 2 years. During her time ‘down under’ Charlotte lived in two major cities, Sydney and Melbourne, where she worked in both hospitality and telephone sales. Whilst she enjoyed both roles, neither were a career choice she wanted to pursue back in the UK.

Having enjoyed the experience of working with customers and clients in various industries, Charlotte identified that recruitment would be a great profession to work within, and she joined Property Personnel in early 2018 as a Trainee Recruitment Consultant.

Seven years later, Charlotte has grown into an exceptional recruiter and has built and maintained excellent relationships with clients and candidates over the years. As well as continuing to help people get into the property industry, she also takes on more senior lettings and sales candidates as well; and in 2023 earned a well deserved promotion to Senior Recruitment Consultant.

Charlotte still has a love for travel, but her backpacking days are now far behind her. She much prefers a week in the sun with her girlfriends, cocktail in hand, or finding new places to see and explore with her boyfriend. Her other interests include going out for dinner, socialising with friends and family and of course meeting up with the team for a few glasses of wine.

Q&A's

At Property Personnel we’re firm believers that the secret to our success is down to our fantastic team. Meet Charlotte, our senior recruitment consultant who specialises in helping people get into the property industry, as well as working with more senior lettings, sales & support candidates. We sat down with Charlotte to ask her some questions about her role here at Property Personnel.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR CAREER WITH PROPERTY PERSONNEL!

How long have you worked at Property Personnel?

6 and a half years.

What’s your favourite thing about your job?

Most people approach us when they are unhappy in their current job, so being able to help someone find a job they love in an environment they will be happy in is a really nice feeling.

How did you get into recruitment?

I had returned from 2 years’ travelling and was looking to settle back in the UK and start something new. Property Personnel was the first interview I attended and ended up being the last one too!

What has been one of your biggest achievements since you have been at Property Personnel?

Hearing about candidates’ progression and achievements in the company I placed them with at the very beginning of their property career.

What is the biggest challenge you face at work?

The most frustrating one is being ghosted!

What makes a good candidate?

A candidate that loves to chat. The more I know about a candidate, the better I can understand and help them find a new job that best matches their needs and requirements. Many people think that sending a CV is enough, but this doesn’t tell me anything about your personality, preferences and what would make you happy in a new role.

What makes a good client?

For me, a good client is someone who is happy to take a phone call. Recruiting for certain roles isn’t always straight forward and communication is key.
